One day my mom was driving my sister and I to Borders. I got bored because i didn't have my iPod and so i just stared out the window. I then realized something. The city I live in is so broken. There are clutters of stores next to each other. Graffiti marks every wall. Gang signs are thrown up in the air by people I don't even know. I watched the streets change from bad to worse. There were about ten homeless people on the street begging for money. I couldn't do anything but watch. I counted the many liquor stores and there was always one on every other corner. It was terrible. I just stared out my window in disbelief that the city I lived in was so....bad.
About 10 minutes of driving, I came into a city that was full of life. The neighborhood i came across was clean, bright, and the grass was still green. The stores were differently sectioned and people were scurrying in and out of them. It was busy and so amazing. No gang signs. No graffiti. No liquor stores. There were only two that I actually saw and they looked nicer than the ones I had seen earlier. I sighted a huge building and noticed something even better. There wasn't a homeless person standing outside, begging for money. Everything was so vivid that it made me stop. My mom parked the car and I barely realized that we were at Borders. I got out and something was bugging me. The whole time I was in that store I pondered my thoughts. How can two worlds that were only ten minutes apart, be completely different from each other?
